Find the Perfect Manufacturing PPE Footwear Styles from Shoes For Crews

Worker wearing Shoes For Crews style Engineer in black standing on blue linoleum floor

When it comes to running a manufacturing plant or production facility, safety is the number one priority. According to the Labour Force Survey in 2023 from the ONS, 25% of workers in the manufacturing industry suffered a non-fatal slip, trip or fall. The demand for slip-resistance in work and safety footwear has increased dramatically over the years due to the growing number of accidents and shortages in today’s workforce. At Shoes For Crews, we have a wide range of types of PPE footwear styles that your workers can comfortably wear and rely on day in and day out.

In this article, we have selected six manufacturing PPE footwear styles from Shoes For Crews that will not only protect your crew, but also carry them through their long working day with ease.

1. Bergamo

Heat-resistant Bergamo style in black with blue-coloured lining and composite toe

The Bergamo is a lightweight, extra cushioned PPE footwear style that will add an extra pop of colour to your employees’ days. Not only can it withstand extremely hot temperatures and is puncture resistant, but it also features a composite toe with 200 joules of impact resistance. Its slip-resistant outsoles provide excellent grip and can repel fuel oil all while only weighing in at 615g in a size 42. Lightweight work shoes offer increased manoeuvrability and flexibility for crews who make quick movements and switch from one surface to another.

2. Guard

Guard Mid PPE footwear for manufacturing with superior slip-resistant outsoles

Our popular Guard style comes in mid or high cut safety boots. With a cushioned EVA midsole, this PPE footwear style feels as if you are wearing anything but a work shoe. It is a certified, metal-free, puncture-resistant safety boot with a composite toe cap.

It features our standard TripGuard technology and protects against blood-borne pathogens. The slight curvature and narrow lug profile helps your workers move from a potentially slippery concrete floor to other types of surfaces. A handy side-zip on each side makes the shoe easy to put on and take off.

3. Forkhill

Forkhill safety shoe with slip and clog-resistant outsole featuring TripGuard

The Forkhill, like all our safety shoes and boots is unisex. It comes in a regular fit and is quite lightweight at only 585g for a size 44. The composite toe protects wearers against large falling objects and dropped tools. Its removable cushioned insoles are made from recycled EVA, which is a newer practice in the production of our PPE footwear styles

At Shoes For Crews, we understand that our feet will not be getting any smaller, but the environmental footprint they leave behind will. That is why we have become more aware of the importance of sustainability in our production processes. The linings from all our shoes are now made with recycled PET and our superior slip-resistant outsoles are being manufactured from recycled rubber from old tyres. This results in a big win for both you and the environment.

4. Guardian ST

White steel toed Guardian ST safety boots with puncture protection

The next PPE footwear style, the Guardian ST, is available in black, white and green. Its slip-resistant outsole enhances traction and helps to repel liquids at the same time. The back kick-plate allows the wearer to slip these safety boots on and off. It offers electrical hazard protection as well as providing additional comfort.

We have discussed composite and steel toed boots for manufacturing in previous articles. However, while steel toed boots are more traditional, this type of PPE footwear for manufacturing helps minimise a wide range of industrial injuries such as falling objects, punctures, burns, cuts and lacerations and slips and trips. It provides strong impact protection in high hazard environments, is less bulky than composite toe shoes and it is the best choice for puncture protection. They are 40cm tall and weigh 840g in a size 38

5. Inny

White Inny PPE safety boot with composite toe and slip-resistant outsoles

Another excellent PPE footwear style is the Inny. It is available in white and is quite comfortable for all day wear. Its removable cushioned insoles can add extra support where your employees need it the most. Its supreme slip and clog-resistant outsoles are equipped with TripGuard to protect the wearer when walking on one type of surface to another.

Its recycled microfibre uppers are waterproof and thanks to the composite toe, it is metal free. The composite toe cap with 200 joules of resistance is designed to allow the shoe to return to its original shape after significant force or impact. It is quite lightweight at only 598g for a size 42

6. Engineer IV CT

Black Engineer IV CT PPE footwear style with composite toe and TripGuard

Finally, we are currently working on manufacturing the Engineer IV CT’s waterproof coated leather uppers from sustainable sources. It is a lightweight and breathable PPE footwear style weighing only 718g based on a size 41. This boot is also resistant to fuel oil which is particularly useful for workers who may come into contact with harmful substances while working on warehouse or factory floors. Easy to clean and metal free, these safety boots are designed to take on the most demanding tasks and keep going.
